New Adventures

I just wanted to give quick up date on my life. I am currently working in Loa, Ut. (which is in the middle of no where). Anyway, it's a learning experience and consists of really late nights, but I'm grateful for the job. With other news, I'm currently working through the process of applying for a Masters program at USU. I'm going for the Human Resource program, so hopefully it will work out. I'm studying for the GRE and it scares me to death. I think that is one of the biggest obstacles. Anyway, I love you all take care.

Hello Everyone

To up date y'all, I am now working. It's about time. I work at a place called Aspen Ranch. It's a boarding school for youth. It's a very interesting place. I'm learning a lot about how being a good or a bad parent makes a huge difference in your children. 

Anyway, life is going well. I'm looking forward to the holidays. So to all of you  out there, Merry Christmas and New Year.

Temples & Triumphs

Well hello everyone,

I know, I know, I've been horrible at writing. But here is the latest update on what is going on with me and my family. John's football teem went to the state football team 1A Championship on the 15th and they won. The first time ever that North Sevier has ever won a state title. As can be seen on my brother's face, he was really excited.

Melanie also had a big day, she got to go to the temple for the first time on Saturday. It’s been a fun time and I’ve felt like we’ve had thanksgiving at least three times because of all the family and friends that we’ve seen. Anyway, Hope everyone has fun and I love you all.

Hello everyone!!
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying life. I've just finished subbing for the secretary at North Sevier High School. I know her job is hard, but mine (as a stand in) was really boring. Although I am grateful for the work. It's much better than not having any thing to do. Anyway, Johns football team has made it to State and are playing for the title on Saturday. His really excited and I hope he does well. As for any other exciting news, I don't have any, but who know something may happen soon. Take care everyone.

 

I am still alive!!

I guess this is a post just to let you all know that I am breathing. Not a whole lot has happened to report on, but I guess things are going well. Since nothing exciting has happened I thought that I'd share a picture and a little story from my mission. We were tracking (as usual) and so we needed to park the car along the side of the road. We tracked for a bit and we taught a fun seventh day Adventist lady. About a half an hour later we got to the end of the country dirt road and to the last  house. We knocked on the door and this old man answered. We did our opening shpil and then he asked " was that your car that was parked down the road. I think some one came and took it away." The look on my face was of terror then he just started to laugh and told us that he was joking with us. Then we all had a good laugh. Anyway, the picture is of me and him and the pecan pie that he gave us cause he didn't have anything to offer us to drink. It was a great day and the pie tasted good. Hope you enjoy the story.

A lot came to pass, but not to stay.

Well as many of you know, I've been up at conference this past weekend and at my mission reunion. It was fun to see most of my companions and catch up and new and old times. Tomorrow it will be officially two years since my last full day of missionary work. Crazy how time flys. Conference was amazing. I was honored and blessed to be in the same room as the prophet and all of the apostles. It has been a strength to me.

On to other news, I had an interview with the Huntsman Cancer Institute on Thursday of last week. They called me today to let me know that they have decided not to hire anyone for the position at this time. I really think that if they were hiring I would have had a healthy shot. Anyway, they said that they will keep my resume' on file and when they decide to hire for the position they'll consider me again. Maybe it will work out in the future.

And last night, Mom, Melanie, and I went to a relief society enrichment and made scripture bags. They were a lot of fun to make. Anyway, be good everyone and know that God loves you.

Surprise, Surprise

As some of you know, I love to surprise people. I usually surprise them with myself (I don't know if that is egocentric or not...hmmm). Anyway, I've been staying close to home and sending out my resume to every government agency and any job that I can qualify for. It was nice the first week, but know I'm starving for outside interaction. Anyway, My brother has a concert at theY this weekend and I have decided to go. I needed a place to stay naturally and so I thought Aimee would be so kind. And since we have tickets next week for conference, why not volunteer in her class room for a week. It is human interaction (little human interaction). Anyway, I am excited and I think Aimz is to. I love surprises.

Simple moments

I love simplicity in my life. Just reading posts about the exciting lives of my friends brings incredible happiness. Another thing that brought joy while I have been posting was the glorious fragrance of rain and I thought, life is really good. It seems like it is the simple moments that I love the most. I am looking for jobs right now and that can be frustrating and complicated at times. It's nice to be reminded the life really is made up of beautiful instances that make all the frustration worth it. Hopefully, my single adventure will move on to a little more productive times, but I hope that I will always have simple moments.

John's First Date

John would kill me if he knew I was going to post pictures of his first date. Lucky for me, he'll never know (evil Ha Ha Ha). He didn't really want to have any pictures taken, but I think McKenzie talked him into it (lucky for mom). He had a great time and went with a really fun and pretty girl. He even told me after ward that I would be proud of him, because he opened the doors and told her she was pretty multiple times. And Yes I am very proud. My "little" brothers turning into a little gentleman, who would have thought.

Homemade Peach Ice Cream!!!

One of my favorite things about summer and family is the homemade ice cream that usually accompanies the occasions (oh and ice cream on pancakes). Unfortunately, this summer I was never around at the times that it was made. Well, Grandma and Grandpa Johnson came down to help with the shed and bring us ... da da da DA ... Peaches!!! Lots of them, which made me very, VERY Happy. And Mom said that we were going to make Peach Ice Cream. I love it when family comes, there are so many perks. Anyway, I loved eating it and ate too much.

Macgyver and Lace

This past weekend mom and I went up to Provo in search of some interview clothing. It was sooo much fun. Aimee came on our shopping spree, which added to the great company. As some maybe wondering what MacGyver (or the picture) has to with any of the events of this weekend, I have a story for you.

Well before Aimee arrived at the University Mall, Mom and I rolled down our windows ( this is important to the story) to cool off and wait (I neglected to remember that my window doesn't come up all the way when it is rolled down). Anyway, Aimee drives up and parks and we start to get our stuff out of the car. While mom is getting her stuff together, Aimee and I attempt to get the window back up and get it most of the way and close the door. Mom opens the trunk and she sets her purse on the back seat. Well, the doors were locked and the back door swung shut, leaving us, yes, locked out of our car. After a brief moment of anger, we set out to be our own version of Macgyver. I, unfortunately left my Swiss army knife and duct tape at home, but luckily Aimee brought Burt (her car). And so, a slightly down window, medical tape, a plastic knife, fork, and spoon, two pens, a metal spoon, a rope, and fifteen minutes later the door came open. It wasn't as smoothly done as MacGyver but we took what we could get. After that the day went on in the normal shopping day would go. We went to Kohl's and got some really nice stuff. I'll have to share pictures sometime.

Football, Cowgirls, and Indians

Hello Everyone,
It's been a great couple of weeks. Labor day weekend was great (and considering that it was almost two weeks ago) I should let you in on the fun. Aimee came down to visit that weekend and brought most of the fun with her. We started off the weekend at Johns football game (which he won 34 to 0). Just a side note, it was really fun to be in a place where yelling was acceptable and even encouraged. We kept with the American traditions going with a horse ride on Saturday. Aimee looked like a real pro with her city cowgirl hat, she even got Chester to gallop. (she has the video, so you all will have to get her to put it on her blog). On Monday, we went to the Fremont Indian Museum. It was really neat, my grandpa even took us on a tour telling us all the history (or "lies" as my grandma calls it) of the place. Zion Trip

As some of you know, My Brother, his two roommates, Melanie, and I all went to Zion National Park on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a lot of fun and we got to see a lot and learn a lot. I hope that these pictures shed some light on what we got to see.

Private Concert

After a long day of traveling the boys were nice enough to give a concert to Grandma and Grandpa Harrison. The boy's in this clip are Aaron and Tyler. Danny played the piano earilier. (doesn't it kill you when the boy's can out do you musically;0)

Farwell BBQ

To Celebrate my leaving the sand dunes, we had a BBQ. It was fun to sit around and enjoy the time with Pappy, Elaine, and Billy (some of the greatest people around) for my last night at the sand dunes. We ate Elaines magnificant potatoe salad and had Billy's brownies and Steaks cooked up by Pappy. It was a lot of fun.

After the BBQ was over it was back to work for Billy and I. We went around to make sure all the people had paid for the evening. It was funny because along the way, I checked a guy's back to make sure it wasn't broken and we had to deal with a semi angry, possibly drunk man. It was one of the most eventful nights of my employment there. Anyway, life moves on and I'm excited to create the next adventure.

Farwell to Rexburg and the sand dunes

Hello everyone,

I have finally left the town of Rexburg. I thought that I'd show a few more pictures showing some of where we went on the sand dunes. It was fun to show the new people where they needed to go and what they needed to do. But I'm glad to be home for a while.

As most of you know, I've been working at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes (located about twenty minutes outside of Rexburg) for four months now. The best way to describe the sand dunes is to compare it to a sand box ....... on steroids. 

Another quality of the place, is that it is the best place to see grown men turn into excited twelve year olds on really loud, fast motor bikes (ATV's, Dune buggies, etc...). 

This experience (that of working in a man's play ground) has been a learning experience. Aside from gaining a whole new vocabulary, I've learned that I can get done, what has to get done (even if I'm no so sure what I'm doing at first).

Everyday brings it's challenges, as well as it's accomplishments. I'm pleased with the confidence that I've gained and the new skills that I have acquired. The end of this adventure is coming to a close soon though, I will be finished on the 16th of August and on to create a new adventure. (and frankly, I'm excited for that).

All of us will be going on to different places in a couple weeks, but we've had fun and gotten the work done.

Some of you might wonder why I decided to change my blog address. Well, the simple explanation is that I thought that this address better describes the place I'm at in my life

 (and let's face it, it's easier to remember). So all those that are reading welcome to the new blog.
